First reconciliation and first holy communion

To be eligible to prepare for and receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation & First Holy Communion a child must be

7 years of age and/or in at least 2nd grade as of September 2023.


Preparing to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion is typically a two year program:  


Year One (approximately 1st grade) – Religious Education classes or Catholic School or previous parish or Diocese of Colorado Springs approved program.


Year Two (2nd grade or higher) – Religious Education classes, Sacrament Preparation, and celebration of these sacraments.


Families with children entering 2nd – 5th grade in the fall of 2023, who completed Religious Education during the 2022-2023 school year, will register for and participate in Religious Education AND Sacrament Preparation for the 2023-2024 school year to prepare to celebrate First Reconciliation and First Communion in 2023-2024. 


Families with children entering 2nd – 5th grade in the fall of 2023, who did NOT complete Religious Education during the 2022-2023 school year, will register for and participate in RE in 2023-2024, then, register for and participate in Religious Education AND Sacrament Preparation in 2024-2025, to celebrate First Reconciliation and First Communion in 2024-2025.


Sacrament Preparation classes are at a separate time from, and in addition to, Religious Education classes to allow families to truly engage with our faith family and in our amazing Catholic faith in this special year.
